Cocktails and a Cure Needed

by TastefullyJulie on June 29, 2012

Wow, it’s Friday already? Really?

I have a major case of summer-itis. Clinically defined as the inability to accomplish anything productive when it’s nice outside. This week, aside from the measly 12 hours that I spent at work, I managed to sunbathe, sunbathe, attend a concert, tie one on, and sunbathe.

Alas, I’ve failed to produce any delectable, blog-worthy content. Maybe it would help if someone suggested something. What kind of recipes do you look for in the summer?

In the meantime, and because it’s Friday, I thought I’d share some amazing cocktails that I’ve been drooling over. See the end of this post for links to the original sites where you can find out how to make these yourself!

Grilled Peach Bourbon Old Fashioned by The Messy Baker

This one looks too good for words. Grilling peaches may be a little ambitious for my current state of being but I’m hopeful that I can find the motivation to really try this.

Sloe Gin Fizz by Kitchen Riffs

Blast from the past! This one really takes me back to my high school early college days.

Whiskey Sour by a Couple Cooks

Hands down, the most stunning cocktail photo I’ve ever seen. I’m glad I chose to read more about it. I’ve given up “sour mix” but this whiskey sour features all natural ingredients.

Watermelon Lime Slushie by Running to the Kitchen

Ok, although not exactly a cocktail recipe I can tell you that I actually made this and it was fantastic. Add a shot of vodka. Voila! Instant party.

The Goombay Smash by Intoxicology 101

Finally, this little taste of the tropics caught my eye since I’ll be smashed in the Bahamas in three weeks.

Three.
More.
Weeks.

Grilled Peach and Bourbon Old Fashioned
Sloe Gin Fizz
Whiskey Sour
Watermelon Lime Slushie
Goombay Smash

All the cocktails look fabulous! I have been in the same funk lately-it’s so hot and I don’t feel like cooking and half the time I don’t really feel like eating either. Like, if I could just subsist on fresh fruit and popsicles until the temperatures go back into the 80s again, that would be fine by me.

When I made it I froze the watermelon cubes and didn’t use any ice. It was soooo good!

Why, thank you for featuring my Sloe Gin Fizz! It really is the drink of one’s youth, isn’t t? But the really good sloe gins are a grownup drink. Fun post!

These all look great. I’m all about wine spritzers in the summer heat but these really take it up a notch. Adore the grilled peach idea.

Yum, these all look so good! I’ve been into more salads recently just cause other than throwing something on the grill, that’s about all I want to eat these days! Oh and chocolate. :)

Such gorgeous cocktails! I just pinned the Whiskey Sour which was a favorite libation in college. Another new favorite which I just discovered is The Moscow Mule. I also read your bison taco recipe and can totally relate to the popsicle mess all over the house now that it is summer. If you’ve never had a Moscow Mule, put it on your list for when you have that next “Calgon Take Me Away!” moment {unless it is 8 am, then you might want to find another way to de-stress :-) }
