Who has time to cook? It’s dance season!

by TastefullyJulie on May 9, 2012

It’s going to be a Wendy’s drive-thru, Subway, Pizza and Chinese take-out kind of week. Maybe a chicken souvlaki and falafel week if I’m lucky. Shhh. Don’t tell any of my fellow dietitians but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

My youngest daughter, Emma, is competing in her first dance competition this weekend which involves an insurmountable number of tasks. Those tasks culminate this week with costume bedazzling, practice makeup application (ever try to put false eyelashes on a 9-year-old?), and about 10 combined hours of rehearsals (to and from which I am her designated chauffeur).

Although I have absolutely no time to cook this week, as fate would have it, a couple of features I did for some other great blogs are running this week. Hallelujah for perfect timing!

Today, you can check out my interview with Robin Plotkin in her “Inside the Fridge” special. Click here to see my messy fridge (I really should have cleaned it for the photo and that Miracle Whip is not mine!) and read my interview. I’ll be heading over to read it, too, because it’s from last month and heck if I can remember what I said.

Later this week I’ll have a special recipe featured on another fantastic blog. Thank goodness for great bloggy friends to get me through this harried week.

Now, where did I put the hot glue gun and Xanax, er, I mean sequins?

Oh, by the way, she'll be shakin' it in these shorts. Have mercy.

Oh goodness, the costumes have gotten skimpier from when I was a kid. Just read you “Inside the Fridge” - do you really like the Ninja? My Magic Bullet just bit the dust (conveniently on the day I ordered replacement blades), and I need something else to make smoothies. I like that it has a small pitcher, too, so I can make single servings of smoothies.

I LOVE my ninja but I noticed she linked to the fancy expensive one. I just have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Ninja-QB900B-Master-Revolutionary-Drink/dp/B003XU3C7M/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1336577589&sr=1-2 It’s easy to store and use.
